Victorian Sterling Silver Coin – Smoothed “Love Token” Blank (c. 1800s)
Sold out£12.00
Description:
Genuine Victorian-era sterling silver coin, deliberately smoothed on both sides, dating to the mid–late 19th century. This piece was almost certainly prepared as a “love token” blank — a common Victorian practice where silver coins were polished smooth to be engraved with initials or messages.
The coin shows faint remains of the original legend, including part of “BRITANNIARUM”, confirming its Victorian origin. It was never engraved and remains a plain, evenly smoothed silver disc.
- ✔ Authentic Victorian silver
- ✔ Likely former Crown (large silver coin)
- ✔ Ideal for collectors of love tokens, silver buyers, or historical curiosities
- ✔ Untouched – not recently cleaned or polished
Condition:
As shown. Smoothed surfaces with age-related marks consistent with Victorian preparation. Sold exactly as found.
Please note:
This is not a collectible-grade coin due to smoothing. Value is based on silver content and historical interest, not numismatic detail.
